There is something very poignant about the falling of the leaves in autumn.
They swirl so beautifully through the air, tracing paths that are so intricate that it feels cruel to call it random…
But inevitably they fall to the ground, irreversibly shed from the branches where they grew, supported the tree, provided shade to passerbyes.
And yet despite this reality, as I stand here amidst this organic flurry, I cannot think of a more graceful or romantic way to reach one’s final resting place…buoyed by the vagaries of the breeze, afloat, in flight.
